PALM BEACH, FL – Peter J. Durand, Sr., age 40, a resident of Stuart, FL and former longtime Lowell, MA resident died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Palm Beach.

He was born in Lowell on April 30, 1982, and was the son of Leo Durand and his wife Cathleen Garry-Durand and the late Nancy Ann Savard. He received his early education in the Lowell Public Schools and attended the Greater Lowell Regional Vocational High School in Tyngsboro.

Peter was a talented tattoo artist and throughout his life also worked doing landscaping including tree removals and as a roofer.

In his free time, he enjoyed drawing gifts for family and friends, tattooing, kayaking, fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle and mountain biking.

In addition to his father and stepmother, Peter is survived by his children, Peter J. Durand, Jr. of Lowell, MA, Finley Lachance of Maine, and Avery Durand of Florida; his 1 year old grandson, Amari, his sister, Rayann Durand of Lowell, MA; his paternal grandmother, Jeannette Majder of Dracut, MA; his nieces and nephew, Olivia, Jordan and Emma Brioche of Lowell, MA; many aunts and uncles, including Joseph Durand and his wife Jan of Granger, Indiana, Donald Durand and his wife Margaret of Pelham, NH; Jeannine Hopkins and her husband Ralph of Dunstable, MA; Colleen Garry of Dracut, MA and Maureen Riordan and her husband Mark of Dracut, MA and many close cousins and dear friends.

Peter was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, the late Henry Durand of Lowell, MA and his maternal grandmother, the late Ann Surprenor of Lowell, MA.
