Dracut – Robert O. “Narby” Narbonne, a Dracut resident and beloved husband of the late Jean C. “Carol” (Pickard) Narbonne, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, following a period of declining health. He was 91.
Born in Lowell on July 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Leon and Blanche (Page) Narbonne.
Bob was a graduate of St Louis Elementary School and Lowell High School Class of 1951. Following high school he served his country in the US Army during the Korean War with the Military Police, attaining the rank of Corporal. Narby was a member of the Dracut American Legion and the Dracut V.F.W.
Bob and Carol were introduced on a blind date and were married nine months later on April 7, 1956. Together they celebrated 59 years at the time of Carol’s death in 2015.
Following his active duty he worked for Coyne Electric in Boston where he received his journeyman’s license and master electrician’s license. Bob was a member of IBEW Local 588, Lowell and Local 103, Boston for a combined 51 years, serving on the executive board and as financial secretary for Local 588 until the merger with Local 103 in 1987.
He was a longtime parishioner of the former St. Louis de France Parish where he was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
In his spare time Bob enjoyed hunting and ice skating. He loved history and documentaries, especially about WWII.
He leaves five children, Karen L. Tollick and her husband Robert of Litchfield, NH, Maureen A. Lamothe and her husband Donald of Hudson, NH, Robert S. Narbonne and his partner Seleyne Gove of Hudson, NH, Deborah J. Saucier and her husband Raymond of Dracut and Joanne C. Maille and her husband Todd of Pelham, NH. Bob also leaves 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late George, Paul, Albert and William Narbonne, Estelle and Lucille Deschene.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home 327 Hildreth Street from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Thursday. His Funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
