Roberta L. Wood, a resident of Nashua, NH and formerly of New Jersey passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 78.
Born in Everett, MA on November 22, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Brenda (French) Wood. Roberta grew up in Malden and lived in Everett prior to moving to New Jersey.
She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a district trainer and decided to retire early to pursue the calling as a minister. She was a pastor in Magnolia, New Jersey and later in Nashua, New Hampshire where she moved to in 2011. Roberta loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout Europe. She also looked forward to her time spent in Cape May, New Jersey and Cape Cod. A lifelong Red Sox fan Roberta came to Boston to celebrate the 2004 World Series win. She was also an avid Peanuts admirer especially anything Snoopy. Berta’s house was decorated in everything with a Snoopy theme.
Surviving Berta are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Elaine Berggren of Dracut, Jimmy and Janet Berggren of Woodbury, NJ; four grandchildren Nicolas and Olivia Berggren, Violet Yantis, and Maria Szcepanski; two sisters, Priscilla Woodward of Clearwater, FL, Susan Menko of MI; a brother Barry Wood of FL; a “sister” Jean Wood of Tewksbury, MA; and several nieces and nephews including Brenda, Tommy, Jon, Caroline and Kristen. Berta was also the sister of the late Doug and David Wood and sister-in-law to the late Russell Menko and Thomas “Woody” Woodward.
Relatives and friends are invited to Roberta’s Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. From 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Burial will be held privately.
