Roger A. Blanchette, Sr.

Roger A. Blanchette, Sr., a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and  beloved husband of Marion (Laflamme) Blanchette, passed away unexpectedly at the Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. He was 76.

A lifelong resident of Lowell, he was a son of the late Romeo and Corrinne (Fournier) Blanchette.

Roger graduated from the former Lowell Trade School and enlisted in the US Air Force. He and Marion met in kindergarten and were high school sweethearts. They would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in November.

Upon their return to Lowell from the Air Force, Roger was employed as a prototype machinist and retiring from Barbour Stockwell in Woburn following more than 40 years in the industry. Roger enjoyed bowling in earlier years and was an avid fisherman. He fished right up until the lakes froze.

Roger put his family above everything and would drop everything to help when needed. He instilled in all of them that family comes first.

Surviving Roger besides his wife Marion are his two sons and daughters in law, Roger A. Blanchette, Jr., and his wife Melissa of Hudson, NH, Christopher Blanchette and his wife Colleen Pratt of Dracut; three grandchildren, Brandon Blanchette and his wife Jessica of Manchester, NH, Taylor Blanchette, and Cayden Blanchette both of Dracut; two great grandchildren, Toby and Iris Blanchette of Manchester, NH. He was the grandfather of the late Tyler Blanchette and brother of the late George Blanchette, Claire Laferriere, and Evelyn Racine.

Relatives and friends are invited to Roger’s Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 4 until 7 PM on Tuesday. His funeral prayers will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery.
