Lowell – Sandra A. (Swenson) Mousseau, a Lowell resident, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at D’Youville Senior Care, surrounded by her family and loved ones following a period of declining health. She was 80.
Born in Somerville on December 19, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Martin) Swenson.
Sandra owned and operated an in-home daycare, where she took great joy in caring for children. She especially enjoyed seeing them grow up and return to visit her, often reminiscing about the time they spent together. Sandra had a passion for playing cribbage and dancing. Later in life, she enjoyed a modeling career, which brought her great happiness. Some of her fondest memories were of family gatherings at Salisbury Beach, especially those shared with her mother and Aunt Dot. Above all, Sandra treasured time with her family and was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Matthew and Denise Mousseau of Carrollton, VA, Karen Collins of Berlin, NH, Jeff and Jen Mousseau of Londonderry, NH, and Michael Mousseau of Lowell; eight grandchildren, Karalynda with whom she shared a special bond, Alani and her husband Theron, Kira and her husband Lawrence, Andrew, Carissa, Michael, Jeffrey and his wife Brittney, and Michael, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Gracie, Landon, Audrey, Addelyn, Avenley, Caiden, and Camden; her sister-in-law, Andrea Swenson of Lowell; her former husband, Gerard Mousseau of Bradenton, FL; a dear friend, Joan Buchikos of Lowell; and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins in the Hurley, Martin, Locke, Mackey, Lombardi and Duggan families.
Sandra was the sister of the late Howard Swenson and Laura Swenson, the longtime partner of the late Rick Martyn, and a dear friend of the late Rosemary Lewis.
