Seeking Applicants for 2024 Board Diversity Initiative

The Coalition for a Better Acre, the Lowell Alliance, and the Lowell Plan are pleased to announce the return of the Board Diversity Initiative.  BDI aims to build a culture of inclusion among Lowell’s non-profit boards and support diverse leaders seeking opportunities to serve.

The objectives of this initiative are to:

  • Prepare and connect diverse community members with opportunities to serve on boards of area non-profit organizations, and
  • Support organizations trying to build boards that reflect the culture of the community and help strengthen their connections with their constituencies.

The pilot program launched in September 2023 saw participation from over 30 individuals and organizations. The impact of this initiative was significant, with several non-profit organizations successfully finding new board members through the program. Encouraged by the positive outcomes of the previous year, the partnership is thrilled continue the initiative in 2024.

The program begins in September and features content on the roles and responsibilities of board participation; opportunities for matchmaking and networking; and creating a culture of inclusion and belonging.
