 UML Class of ’24 Chancellor’s Medal Award Recipients

UMass Lowell honored the outstanding members of the Class of 2024 at the university’s annual student awards celebration Friday, May 10, as part of Commencement festivities.

Student recipients of this year’s Chancellor’s Medals were recognized for their scholastic and athletic achievements, service to others, and their efforts to foster a greater sense of diversity and belonging on campus and in the community. The award winners, along with student government leaders and student Commencement speakers, were recognized at the Chancellor’s Medal Celebration, held at UMass Lowell’s University Crossing.

This year, 73 awards were presented to 52 students.

Twenty students received the Trustees Key for completing all four years of their undergraduate career at UMass Lowell with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Their hometowns and majors are:

  • Lowell, Massachusetts: Timothy Nguyen
  • Lowell, Massachusetts: Agrata Patel, business administration,
  • Lowell, Massachusetts: George Gikas, biology
  • Westford, Massachusetts: Silas Bollen, chemistry

Each of the Trustees Key recipients also received a Chancellor’s Medal for Distinguished Academic Achievement, which honors bachelor’s degree recipients in each of UMass Lowell’s colleges who have attained the highest GPA. Other graduates who received this medal are:

  • Acton, Massachusetts: Davis Laich, English
  • Boxborough, Massachusetts: Campbelle Stephens, English
  • Brockton, Massachusetts: Adaobi Onochie, psychology
  • Chelmsford, Massachusetts: Kasey Corbett, English
  • Chelmsford, Massachusetts: Randi Froude, sociology
  • Lowell, Massachusetts: Thuy Nha Uyen Mai, business administration
  • Tewksbury, Massachusetts: Jennifer Lerman, business administration

Chancellor’s Medal for Student Service award winners were recognized for their exemplary contributions to campus life. The eight honorees are:

  • Tyngsborough, Massachusetts: Abdullah Jasim, mechanical engineering

Four students received the Chancellor’s Medal for Community Service in recognition of their significant contributions to the public good. The honorees are:

  • Burlington, Massachusetts: Kiera Murphy, psychology
  • Lowell, Massachusetts: Ryan Descheneaux, education
