When all is said and done, the 2025 Lowell Municipal election may be one for the ages, with plenty of surprises and maybe even a recount in a race that saw just four votes separate the two candidates in the city’s highest voting district.
Below are the unofficial election results as posted by the Elections Department last night. Official results are expected later in the week, and as of 8am this morning, Dan Finn is still mulling whether to formally request a recount in District 3 (Belvidere), after being 0n the wrong side of a razor-thin margin against Belinda Juran in a race they’ll be talking about forever as an example of why every vote matters.
Congratulations to all of the candidates on well-run campaigns. While the total turnout of 8,494 only amounts to 10.92% of Lowell’s 77,624 registered voters, those on the ballot ran competitive races clearly laying out their differences and visions for the city going forward.

A crowd gathers around a 10-foot TV screen at Mount Pleasant Golf Club to watch results roll in during InsideLowell’s election night live coverage.
Lastly, thank you to all who watched our live election coverage last night. Our elections team was on top of all the action, and even featured Erin Gendron predicting the District 3 race would come down to a 25-vote difference. Boy, did she come close!
Stay with InsideLowell for much more in the coming days as the potential recount is decided and the question of who the next Mayor will be gets answered (hint; watch today’s Daily Pulse for more on that).
Then, our election team turns its attention to the 1st Middlesex State Senate Special Election February 3 and March 3.
