In an update to a story we first brought you last week, InsideLowell has learned that Scott Ouellet assumed the interim duties of Lowell High School Athletic Director today.
The LHS Track and Cross Country Coach, who is also a Physical Education teacher at the school, takes over for David Slattery, who took on the role on an interim basis last week when Dave Lezenski was placed on leave.
Lowell Public Schools officials once again tell us they “cannot comment on personnel matters,” the same comment they provided last week when we first reported the story.
As for what precipitated the situation in the Athletic Director’s office, the only thing we can confirm at this point is that it is not related to the criminal charges against former Athletic Trainer Damon Amato.
Other than that, there continues to be great uncertainty, with one inside source going so far as to say the likely outcome encompasses a wide range of possibilities, from Lezenski “returning to the job in days,” to him having “served his last day as AD in Lowell.”
Stay with InsideLowell for updates as this story continues to develop.
