Last week was truly an amazing week for Lowell sports, with our young athletes showcasing the heart, determination and talent that makes the Mill City so proud. From diamond dominance to gridiron glory, our teams reminded everyone why Lowell athletics are second to none.
Championship Glory at Hershey Park
The Lowell Red Raiders 12U Softball team delivered the sweetest of victories, capturing the 2025 Hershey Park Tournament Championship with a thrilling 6-3 win over Viking Softball! Kaydance P. had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 while swiping two bases, and Ella M. dominated in the circle with a complete-game performance featuring 8 strikeouts. Emily N. and Kaydance also came through with clutch RBI doubles to build the early lead. From clutch hitting to dominant pitching, this squad brought the heat all weekend long in Chocolate Town, USA!

Cooperstown Dreams Come True
Lowell’s 12U Cooperstown team wrapped up an unforgettable run on the national stage, falling in the round of 32 with a 12-3 loss after an incredible showing against some of the best teams in the country. These young athletes are headed home with heads held high after proudly representing the Mill City. The highlight? Two grand slams in their previous game that showed just what this team was capable of when firing on all cylinders.

Legion Baseball Falls Just Short
The Lowell Jr. Legion Post 87 14U team battled valiantly but came up just short in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Northeast Gators Select 14U at Ballpark at the Beach. Despite out-hitting their opponents 3-2, with Nathan Norman, Griffin Graham and Andray LeMay each recording hits, the single run proved to be the difference. LeMay was outstanding on the mound, giving up just one run over 5.2 innings in a pitcher’s duel that saw Northeast’s Murphy throw six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts.

Lowell High Football Storms to Regional Title
Lowell High football delivered a summer win to remember at the Northeast 7-on-7 East Regional Tournament! Held at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, our Red Raiders conquered a field of more than 40 top-area teams to claim the East Regional crown. As coaches noted, “Played 8 tough games against some good teams from all over New England and won it all! We have a great group this year!” This championship is more than just a trophy — it’s a sign of big things ahead for the Mill City’s football squad.

Lowell High Basketball Battles Hard
The Lowell High Basketball team showed tremendous grit and determination, playing five games in two days during their summer tournament run. After a nail-biting 2-point victory over Central Catholic that sent them to the Final 4, they ultimately fell in the championship game against Beverly. But what a showing! If this competitive fire is any indication of what the 2025-26 season holds, watch out, Merrimack Valley!

Celebrating Our Champions
These performances represent the very best of what Lowell athletics stands for: hard work, perseverance and representing our community with pride. Whether they’re bringing home championships or battling to the final out, these young athletes are making memories that will last a lifetime while showing the region what Mill City grit looks like.
