Pirates Schedule Released

Lowell – A day after making their move to the Mill City official, the Massachusetts Pirates released their 2024 schedule.

The Pirates, who play in the Indoor Football League, will contest 16-game regular season schedule that includes the team’s first ever Monday night contest, a neutral site game in Fargo, North Dakota and eight games on the Pirates new home field at the Tsongas Center in Lowell. The Pirates will face two new IFL franchises while at the same time renewing a rivalry.

The Pirates season kicks off on the road at 4:05 pm Sunday, March 17th at the Resch Center in Green Bay as Massachusetts faces the Blizzard.

Then, history will be made on Saturday, March 23 at 7:05 pm as the Pirates will play their first-ever home game at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, hosting the Jacksonville Sharks. Massachusetts renews its rivalry from its days in the National Arena League with Jacksonville as the Sharks join the IFL for the 2024 season. This will be the first of eight chances that Pirates fans will have to see their team at the Tsongas Center this year.

The game against Jacksonville will start the Pirates longest homestand of the season. On Friday, March 29 at 7:05 pm Massachusetts will play the Sioux Falls Storm at the Tsongas Center and then on Friday, April 12 the Iowa Barnstormers will make their first appearance on the Pirates’ new home field at 7:05 pm.

Massachusetts will then hit the road for its next three contests. The Pirates will travel to Moline, IL to tee it up against the Quad City Steamwheelers on Saturday, April 20 at 8:05 pm. The road swing continues with a neutral site game in Fargo, ND on Saturday, April 27 at 8:05 pm against the Sioux Falls Storm. The longest road trip of the season concludes on Saturday, May 11 in Des Moines at 8:05 pm against the Iowa Barnstormers.

The Pirates then return home at the midpoint of the season for back-to-back games at the Tsongas Center. In a Saturday afternoon matinee on May 18, Massachusetts will host the Northern Arizona Wranglers at 2:05. The following Saturday, May 25, the Tulsa Oilers will visit the Bay State at 7:05 pm.

The month of June starts with the Pirates on the road, traveling to Texas to face the Frisco Fighters. The June 1 affair kicks off at 8:05 pm. The following Sunday, June 8, Massachusetts returns home for an afternoon meeting with the Green Bay Blizzard at 1:05. The short two-game home stand concludes with the San Antonio Gunslingers who will be in their first season of IFL play, while playing the Pirates for the first-time ever on Saturday, June 15 at 7:05 pm.

The Pirates then travel to Jacksonville on Saturday, June 22 to face the Sharks at 7:05 pm before returning home to the Tsongas Center for the final home game of the regular season. That’s when Massachusetts will make history again as they will take the field in their first-ever Monday night game on July 1 against the Quad City Steamwheelers at 7:05.

The final two games of the 2024 regular season will be on the road with the team’s first trip to San Antonio on Saturday, July 6 at 7:05 pm and a season-ending stop in Tulsa to face the Oilers on Saturday, July 20 at 8:05 pm.
