Dracut — Chief Richard Patterson reports that the Dracut Fire Department is welcoming a new firefighter from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program.

Firefighter Gage Brouillette graduated Monday from the MFA program with Class #317. He is a Dracut native and the son of retired fire chief Dave Brouillette.

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy program teaches the essentials of fire and non-fire conditions, life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack. The Graduates are now certified at the level of Firefighter I and II and in hazardous material operation.

“Massachusetts firefighters are on the frontlines protecting their communities every day, and today’s graduates are needed now more than ever,” said State Fire Marshal Davine. “The hundreds of hours of foundational training they’ve received will provide them with the physical, mental, and technical skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely.”

The graduating firefighters of Class #317 represent the fire departments of Bedford, Danvers, Dracut, Holden, Marlborough, Melrose, Milford, Nahant, Natick, Newton, North Andover, North Reading, Phillipston, Reading, Revere, Salem, Saugus, Seekonk, Tewksbury, and Weston.

“I’m pleased to welcome a second-generation firefighter to our department, and I am confident that Gage will make an excellent member of our team,” said Chief Patterson. “Please join me in welcoming him to the Dracut Fire Department.”
