Boomer Baseball teams competed this weekend against top programs from across New England, while our 8U softball team kicked off its season on the diamond. These are our top performances from this past week.
9U Baseball
Blake Doucette starred pitching, catching, and hitting throughout the weekend for the 9U who played two games in Lowell and two in Litchfield, NH. Jack Durkin provided great power at the plate over the four games, while Jackson Brown and Will Tobin made solid defensive plays throughout the weekend.
10U Baseball
The Boomer 10U squad had a big bounce back weekend going 3-1 on the weekend at home. The offense was led by James Kane who finished the weekend with 6 hits and 2 RBI. Others having great performanced included Tommy Florence (5 hits, 2 RBI), Jacob Marion (4 hits, 1 RBI), Sean Drinkwater (4 hits, 5 RBI), Zahir Rodriguez (3 hits, 4 RBI, Ryder Swett (3 hits, 4 RBI) and Lucas Ros (3 hits).
Strong pitching performances were turned in across all 4 games. Drinkwater (3 innings, 7Ks) went the distance in Game 1. Junior Ventura, Kalel Eang, and James Kane combined for 5 innings and 10Ks in Game 2. Marion went the distance in Game 3 (4 innings 3Ks). Swett and Florence combined for 5 innings and 10Ks in the finale.
11U went 3-1 on the weekend with games in Lowell and Mansfield. The offense was led by Matthew Rurak with 7 RBIs on the weekend including a 3-run home run. Wes McDonald also showed his power with a 2-run home run. On the mound, Harry Shea shined by throwing 4 innings and letting up one run. Defensive standouts included Drew Durkin, Logan Kelly, and Matthew Matos all with great plays in the infield during the weekend.
12U Baseball
Boomer 12U went 3-1 on the weekend sweeping Extra Innings and splitting with the Seacoast Pirates of the elite division. Keegan Foley was outstanding on the mound and a number of players contributed with multiple hits on the weekend, including Ryan Galvin and Connor McNamara who added home runs.
13U Baseball
The 13U team went 2-2 on the weekend, splitting both their double headers. Deon Hoeun was the offensive standout going 6-for-11 on the weekend including a walk-off single to beat the Boston Rams on Saturday night. Nate Norman led the way on the mound pitching five strong innings on Sunday allowing only two hits. Cooper Snow played well defensively turning two double plays and recording 12 putouts from SS, but Luke Floor stole the show with a highlight reel diving catch to lead the defense. The team heads down to Hartford, CT this weekend to begin their division schedule.
14U Baseball
14U earned a split on the weekend after a pair of doubleheaders. Melchizedek Vann continued his hot start flashing his athleticism all over the diamond. Kieran Donaghue and Zach Chachus have consistently hit the ball hard in nearly every at bat and with Mike White adding 3 straight doubles. George Grillakis and Brennan Abrams had solid outings on the mound.
15U Baseball
Josh Boucher had a double and started in CF for Lowell on Saturday. Brayden Rivard had 2 hits for Central Catholic on Friday. Liam White faced off against Liam Conley (16U) in a JV battle as Austin Prep defeated Phillips Andover. Both players started at 3B.
Jovani Ubri and Ned Akashian each had a hit as Lowell defeated Tewksbury. Will Morgan had a hit and 2 runs scored as Chelmsford defeated Dracut. Dracut’s Riley Johnson had a hit and 2 RBIs in the loss.
8U Softball
8U Black defeated 8U Purple led by strong offensive performances from Nelle Barry and Mackenzie Favreau. 8U Purple was led defensively by Kat McCann and Kailyn Lappin. Ashlyn Lappin contributed two hits for 8U Purple.
