Boomer Athletics Weekly Recap (May 9, 2024)

Our 9U-12U baseball teams traveled to Oakland, Maine this past week to play on a mini replica of Fenway Park.

It was a great experience for the baseball program to watch our teams navigate the Green Monster and create a bunch of memories.  Our softball program had a ton of success on the field this weekend as their season started to wind up.

9U Baseball

Knoxx Seng and Jax Silva both hit home runs at Little Fenway in Oakland, Maine this past weekend to lead the Boomer 9U to a sweep. Kaleb Pigeon and Will Tobin contributed with great defense and Brian Barry was able to close the door for the save in Game 2.

The team greatly appreciates the support from the Boomer Development team who made the 3-hr trip up to Oakland, Maine to support the program.

10U Baseball

The Boomer 10Us went 2-0 against the Southern Maine River Rats 10u Elite this past weekend.

Thomas Florence started on the mound game 1 striking out 10 over 5 innings. James Kane came in to close it out for a 4-1 win. Ryder Swett and Florence added a hit and run scored each. Jacob Marion caught a strong game and added an RBI and run scored.

11U Team taking in the Green Monster at Little Fenway

Sean Drinkwater and Marion had strong pitching performances in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Lucas Ros caught a solid game behind the plate. On the offensive side, Florence lined an inside the park home run to centerfield and tripled. Zahir Rodriguez also lined a triple to the wall. Others adding hits to the offensive output were Kane, Swett, Marion, Drinkwater, Ros, Jacoby Romanowsky, and Harry Zahareas.

The Boomer 10Us move into the heart of their schedule with several division games on the horizon.

11U Baseball

Boomer 11U went 2-0 against the Southern Maine River Rats Elite at Maine’s Fenway. Boomer’s offense was the story of the weekend with many players collecting hits. Merryn Kay led the charge on offense by going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs.  She also scored twice to seal the game for the 11U.

Emilio Cespedes, Matthew Matos, and Wes McDonald each collected multiple hits. Matthew Rurak stole the show with a towering 2 run home run over the green monster!

Harry Shea, Logan Kelly, and James Mangiaratti pitched well to hold the River Rats to 3 runs through 2 games.

Boomer 11U is excited to get back home with some tough division games coming up.

12U Baseball

Boomer 12u managed to split with the Southern Maine River Rats. Conor McNamara led the way at the plate with multiple hits and RBIs. For the second week in a row, Owen White was dominant on the mound throwing a complete game.

12U Team had some great performances at Little Fenway

A big thank you to all our families, friends, and our hosts in Waterville, Maine for a memorable experience.

13U Baseball

Boomer 13U team showed some offensive strength going 3-1 on the weekend outscoring their opponents 50-16. Connor Stevens led the hit parade going 7-for-10 at the plate including 4 walks. Michael Rillovick also collected 7 hits while extending his hit streak to 7 games. Deon Hoeun had 4 hits including 2 doubles and a triple. Ryan Foley and Tim Franks also had 4 hits. Luke Floor provided the highlight of the weekend with a mammoth 3-run home run. Griffin Graham contributed on both sides collecting 3 hits and scoring 9 times while also pitching 5 strong innings allowing only 2 runs while striking out 5 to earn a win. Rillovick and Nate Norman were also outstanding on the mound. Foley, Stevens and Cooper Snow played well defensively.

14U Baseball

Thomas Shay pitched a solid game to in Game 1 of the weekend striking out four and walking only one batter in 4.2 innings pitched.  George Grillakis had two hits in Game 2 to pace the offense who is back on the field in Lowell this Saturday for two games versus the Swing Factory Prospects.

15U Baseball

Josh Boucher and Chad Vigeant faced off in high school action and each had a hit and RBI in the Lowell win over Dracut. Liam White threw 3 shutout innings of relief for the Phillips Academy Junior Varsity in their game against Belmont Hill.

Andrew Reid continues to have a great year for Middlesex School in the ISL.

16U Baseball

Middlesex School’s Andrew Reid pitched a complete game shutout giving up just 2 hits in the Zebras’ 4-0 win over Thayer Academy. Keegan Hunt struck out 10 batters as Central Catholic defeated Haverhill in JV action. Hunt allowed only 1 run and 1 hit. Ned Akashian and Jovani Ubri each had a hit in Lowell’s game will Billerica.

8U Softball

Nelle Barry hit a double and RBI while Katy Florence, Kailyn Lappin, Shea Duffy and Avery Kalitka contributed to the game with singles. Mackenzie Favreau and Vivian Brown made great plays in the field defensively.

10U Softball readies themselves this weekend as part of their opening tournament.

10U Softball

10U Softball has officially opened their inaugural season!

The opener saw some impressive at bats led by Vivian Straker, strong pitching by both Jane Autio and Zoey Rourke, and a fantastic, heads-up double play at the hands of Stella Espinola on the hot corner. The squad picked up their first win as a team, defeating Tewksbury Redmen Blue on Saturday afternoon.

Straker looked cool, calm, and collected at the plate to start off the year. Autio and Rourke worked hard on the mound, carrying most of the innings for the squad in this first weekend. Their off-season hard work is apparent and exciting as we look towards our next tournament.

Lila Montgomery showed mental toughness, catching all innings of the weekend. She worked hard, blocking balls left and right.

On Sunday morning, Olivia Gallo executed a great bunt, moving Rourke from first to third, sparking a four-run top of the first against a very competitive Charlton Softball team.

12U Softball had a great showing in their first tournament of the year.

Ellie Logan was a standout performer on the weekend communicating on almost every play no matter what position she was at. Her team-first mentality shined throughout the weekend.

10U Softball looks takes the field again in Milford, NH on June 18th, and 19th.

12U Softball

The 12U Softball team opened their season with a strong 3-2 record, losing in the semi-finals of their tournament. Grace Frost got 2 wins in the circle, striking out 19! Layla Roun swung a hot bat with 8 hits, 11 runs scored, and 14 RBIs! Sophie Ouellette added 6 hits, 10 runs scored, and 3 RBIs. Both Grace Duncan and Misha Santiago also had 5 hits and 8 RBIs each!
