In recognition of Hunger Action Month, Lowell Mayor Dan Rourke, the Lowell City Council, and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to host the Mayor’s Food Drive in support of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. This initiative aims to rally the community around a vital cause—combating hunger in Lowell and the surrounding areas.
The food drive will take place at three key locations in the city:
- Cawley Stadium – 424 Douglas Road
- Pawtucketville Memorial School – 425 W. Meadow Road
- Merrimack Valley Food Bank – 1703 Middlesex Street
At these locations, volunteers will be accepting donations of shelf-stable food items. Every can or box counts, and your contribution could help make a real difference for families in need. Whether it’s canned vegetables, pasta, or rice, the need is greater than ever, and the community’s generosity can go a long way.
As an added incentive, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank will be offering refreshments and tours of their facility at their Middlesex Street location. This is a unique opportunity to see firsthand how your donations are put to use in the fight against hunger. The food bank plays a crucial role in the region, providing nutritious food to families, children, and seniors who might otherwise go without.
For those interested in participating, the Mayor’s Food Drive is not just about making donations but also about raising awareness. Hunger is a persistent issue, but by coming together, we can help alleviate food insecurity in our community.
