Lowell Girls Lacrosse Weekly Scoop (April 24, 2026)

It was one of those classic New England spring Sundays—cold, wet, and the kind of weather that makes you wonder why we ever bother putting the winter coats away. But none of that seemed to bother the Lowell Girls Lacrosse teams.

The kids showed up with great attitudes, tons of energy, and a whole lot of grit, and it really showed across every age group. Despite the rain and chilly wind, the effort was high, the teamwork was strong, and there were plenty of bright spots to celebrate from top to bottom.

Grade 1/2:

The Lowell 1/2 team turned in an impressive performance on Sunday, earning a decisive 14–4 win over Tyngsboro and showing continued growth across all areas of the game.

The offense was balanced and efficient, with eight different players scoring. Hat tricks from Audrey Whittemore and Riley Brady led the way, followed by goals from Payton O’Hearn (2), Evelyn McManus (2), Riley Gudewich, Sydney Smith, Raquel Fernandes, and Ruari Pollard.

Lowell controlled the hustle stats, winning 41 ground balls. Pollard led with 6, Brady added 5, and Gudewich, McCabe, O’Hearn, and Whittemore each collected 4. Smith, Bedard, and McManus added 3 apiece, while Abby Whittemore and Charlotte Patterson tallied 2, and Mila Ferrer added 1.

The draw unit also kept Lowell in control, winning 11 draws. Mila Ferrer, Sydney Smith, and Audrey Whittemore each secured 2, with O’Hearn, Bedard, Abby Whittemore, and Pollard adding one each.

In goal, Riley Gudewich handled the first half and Casey McCabe took over in the second, with both making key saves as Tyngsboro pushed to generate offense. The defensive group stayed disciplined throughout, contesting every look and battling for loose balls.

It was a complete team win and another strong step forward for the 1/2 squad as they prepare for a matchup with Tewksbury next weekend.

Grade 3/4 Red:

The 3/4 Red team delivered another strong performance on Sunday, earning a convincing win over Tyngsboro and continuing to show impressive early‑season growth. The group controlled the draw, attacked aggressively, won key ground balls, and played tight defense that created turnovers and transition chances.

The midfield unit set the tone once again. Eva Mojica led the way with 7 goals, 7 assists, 6 GBs, and a DC, while Michaela Marshall added 5 goals, 3 assists, 5 GBs, and 3 DCs. Emmagrace Glavine was dominant between the lines with 3 goals and 8 GBs, and Emma Smulligan contributed 1 goal, 2 assists, 7 GBs, and 2 DCs. Gisele Smith added 1 goal, 2 assists, and 2 GBs, providing steady two‑way play.

On attack, Avery Gudewich (1G, 1A, 3 GBs), Etta Brunini (1G, 1A, 3 GBs), and Reese Hegarty (2 GBs) kept the offense moving with smart ball movement and strong off‑ball play.

The defense turned in another excellent outing. Harper Ronan and Alice Regan each added a goal in transition, while Kinsley Witts chipped in 2 GBs and a draw control. Addison Feeney, filling in on defense, delivered a strong defensive effort with 1 goal, 3 ground balls, multiple interceptions and several forced turnovers, helping limit Tyngsboro’s chances.

In net, Lily Brady continued her strong start to the season, making several key saves and showing great positioning throughout.

It was a complete team effort from start to finish, and the 3/4 Red squad continues to build momentum as the season progresses.

Grade 3/4 White:

The 3/4 White team earned another strong win on Sunday, defeating Billerica 17–6 behind excellent teamwork, hustle, and full‑field play. The group out‑worked Billerica on ground balls, moved the ball well in transition, and supported each other in every phase of the game.

The midfield unit set the tone with outstanding two‑way play. Addison Feeney led the offense with 5 goals and 4 assists, while Maggie Branco added 4 goals and 4 assists. Breton Tanguay contributed 4 goals and an assist, and Eva Mojica added 2 goals and an assist, helping drive transition and maintain possession throughout the game.

On attack, Kendra Dexter (1G, 1A), Bella Cardaci (1G), and Delaney Donovan applied steady pressure, working well together to generate quality scoring chances and keep the offense moving.

The defense turned in an excellent performance, anchored by Madison O’Hearn (1 assist), Kerryn Welch (1 assist), Katy Florence, and Lyla Curran‑Benson. The unit stayed disciplined, communicated well, and consistently disrupted Billerica’s attempts to get to the cage.

In net, Emma Smulligan was a force, finishing with 6 saves and providing a reliable presence in the crease.

It was a complete team win for the 3/4 White squad, and the group now looks ahead to Sunday’s matchup with Waltham.

Grade 5/6:

The Lowell 5/6 team delivered another strong performance on Sunday, earning a 20–13 win over Tyngsboro with a balanced offensive effort and steady play across the field.

The midfield set the tone early, with Maeve McKiernan controlling the draw and helping Lowell maintain possession. Vivian Shanley led the scoring with six goals, followed by McKiernan with five and Ellie Branco with four. Additional goals came from Sam Heslin, Addison Dolan, Nora Finn, Audrey Hunt, and Brooke Sorbi, rounding out a diversified offense that moved the ball well and consistently found high‑quality scoring opportunities.

In goal, Keira Pollard stood strong with eight saves, providing key stops as Tyngsboro pushed to stay in the game. Defensively, Bella Bedard, Renee Wagner, J’Lynn Wallace, and Ellie Jaracz worked together to apply pressure and disrupt possessions. Ground‑ball efforts from Quinn Maguire, Grace Ninteau, and Bridget Quirbach helped Lowell regain possession and maintain momentum throughout the matchup.

It was a complete team win for the 5/6 squad, and the group now looks ahead to continuing their strong play against Tewksbury.

Grade 7/8:

The Lowell 7/8 team faced a strong and physical Tyngsboro squad on Sunday, competing with determination from start to finish. The group showed resilience throughout the matchup, working hard in all areas of the field despite the challenging pace of play. While Lowell ultimately came up short on the scoreboard, the effort and teamwork were evident across the roster.

Mia Connors is on the move in her Grade 7/8 debut.

In her 7/8 debut, Mia Connors made an immediate impact, scoring early to put Lowell on the board. Defensively, Maggie Wilson and Abby Smulligan anchored the unit with steady positioning and smart decision‑making around the crease. In goal, Erin McGovern provided leadership and communication, helping organize the defense and making key stops throughout the game.

Through the midfield, Maeve Marshall, Reese McKiernan, and Nora Kelly brought consistent energy, battling for draw controls and working to create transition opportunities. Their effort helped keep Lowell engaged on both ends of the field.

The team’s composure and teamwork stood out, as the girls supported one another, stayed focused, and continued to compete hard on every possession. It was a strong effort across the field, and the group will look to build on the positives as they move forward in the season.
