Yvonne Francisco’s career in journalism spans nearly three decades. She was born in the Dominican Republic and is a graduate of the Communication of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

She began her career in 1996, working several years for Dominican newspapers La Nación (now defunct), Listín Diario, Diario Libre and the Revista Mujer Única. Along the way, she served as editor of the editorial pages and as sub editor of the cultural pages. In addition, Francisco worked for several years as a social communicator in the Public Relations Department at the UASD. Here in the United States, she was employed as a freelance journalist from 2015-2018 for El Mundo Boston.

A gifted storyteller, Yvonne launched Lowell Corazon Latino in 2023 to share news, information and stories about the Mill City’s Hispanic community and the people who shape it.

Along with her work in journalism, she has been a Spanish Teacher and currently teaches at the Latinx Center, working with students of varying levels to foster language acquisition through interactive lessons and cultural immersion, creating a supportive learning environment, encouraging students’ communication skills and cross-cultural understanding.

However, Francisco’s true passion remains writing. In 2020 she authored the book A Beast in the Silence, an effort to convey the feelings and anguish felt by women in abusive relationships.

Yvonne lovingly speaks of her beautiful family; her three children Michael, John and Oliver, her parents, five siblings, her dog Luna and cat Sol. When not writing or teaching she enjoy photography, films, graphic design and working for the community.
