Fred Bahou, who has served on the Greater Lowell Regional School Committee since 2010, pulled papers to run for a seat on the Lowell School Committee late this morning.
Bahou becomes the first potential challenger to incumbent Stacey Thompson in District 1 on the Committee, which combines District 1 (Pawtucketville) and District 8 (Highlands) in the City Council districts.
Bahou did not respond to requests for comment, which leaves open the question of whether he intends to serve on both Boards or if he plans to give up his seat on the Regional School Committee.
Besides his municipal election experience, The Highlands resident also mounted a campaign for State Representative as an Independent candidate in 2014, coming up short against Rady Mom in the race to fill the seat vacated when Kevin Murphy was selected as City Manager.
His family owned The Windsor Shoppe convenience store on Westford Street for 42-years.
