Boomer Athletics Weekly Update (April 25, 2024)

Knoxx Seng has been a great contributor on the mound and in the field for Boomer 9U

Baseball season is in full swing, and our softball season is right around the corner for our older teams.  Take a look at our top performers from this past week…

 9U Baseball

Brian Barry pitched well in relief, while David Cespedes, Jack Durkin and Jax Silva contributed strong offensive performances. The team heads to Franklin this weekend for a doubleheader to round out their April schedule.

10U Baseball

The team went 2-0 on the weekend against a strong USA Prime team.  Game 1 was a pitcher’s duel and took an extra inning effort for the team to come away with a 1-0 walk off win. Ryder Swett singled to start the final inning and advanced to third on a Thomas Florence single to center field. Zahir Rodriguez was able to bring home the winning run with a sacrifice fly. Sean Drinkwater (4.1 innings 3ks) and Jacob Marion (2.2 innings 2ks) were stellar on the mound to combine for the shutout. Lucas Ros caught a strong game behind the plate. Florence went 3-3 at the plate.

Boomer got out to an early lead jn game 2, eventually winning 9-6. Florence (1 run, 4ks) started on the mound going 5 innings. Harry Zahareas, Rodriguez, and Marion each had multiple hits in game two. James Kane and Zahareas had strong defensive efforts in the outfield.

Wes McDonald continues to swing a hot bat early in the year for Boomer 11U

11U Baseball

11U managed a split against a tough NH Prospect team. The team continued their hot hitting with Logan Kelly and Emilio Cespedes leading the way with 5 hits each. Wes McDonald and Jack Duffy each had 4 hits. Matthew Rurak continues to show off his impressive power with another 3-run home run.

Harry Shea was stellar on the mound pitching 5 strong innings. Finn Stevens was strong behind the plate, catching both games of the doubleheader.

12U Baseball

Boomer 12u earned a split in a pair of pitching duels. Owen White and Bryceson Silva battled the hard-hitting USA Prime squad on the mound. The team played consistent defense and continues to do the little things well.

The team will look to get the bats back on track as we head to a weekend matchup with Slam Baseball.

13U Baseball

The 13U Boomer team traveled down to Hartford, CT for a pair of games on Sunday. Deon Hoeun continued swinging a hot bat collecting two hits, including a long double, and driving in two runs. Cooper Snow had two hits and drove in three runs. Connor Stevens had three hits including a double. Dylan LeLacheur also had multiple hits, driving in two runs, and scoring five times. LeLacheur, Snow and Ryan Foley played well defensively. Kingston Phouvong had a gutsy pitching performance in game 1 for the purple and black.

14U Baseball

The team split its doubleheader on Sunday at Shedd Park. Melchizedek Vann went 6 for 7 on the afternoon and was all over the bases, again. Keiran Donaghue was 4 for 4 across both games with a grand slam and 5 RBI. On the mound, Donahue tossed 4 innings and allowed 1 earned run. George Grillakis was huge out of the bullpen in Game 2 throwing 3 innings of shutout ball picking off the only batter to get solid contact on him.

12U Yoden Arias has made a huge impact at the bat and in the field for Boomer 12U

15U Baseball

Shawn Hines started on the mound for Lowell Catholic at LeLacheur Park on Sunday. Josh Boucher had a two-run double in Lowell’s win over Lawrence. Chad Vigeant had a hit and RBI in Dracut’s win over Haverhill. Liam White pitched 4 innings and gave up 1 run for the Phillips Academy junior varsity team.

16U Baseball

Ned Akashian and Jovani Ubri each had a hit and an RBI in Lowell High School’s win over Methuen High School in Cooperstown, NY. Ben Durkin and Akashian each had a hit in the Red Raiders’ victory over Lawrence High School.

Dracut High School’s Brenden Modeski scored 3 runs and Riley Johnson scored 2 runs in the Middies’ victory over Haverhill High School.

Andrew Reid scattered 8 hits over 6 innings earning a no decision in Middlesex School’s game versus Rivers Schools.

Keegan Hunt gave up just 3 hits and 0 earned runs in 6 innings of work as Central Catholic High School defeated Billerica Memorial High School in a junior varsity game.

 8U Softball

8U Purple edged 8U Black on Friday night to take a 2-0 series lead. Standout performers were Emmagrace Glavine (4 hits), Elliot Corbin (3 hits) and Stella McCoy with great defense all over the field. The teams will take to the field again this Friday to continue their series.

14U Softball

Allison Daneau (Dracut) had a hit and an RBI in a 6-3 win against Lowell. Maddie Akashian roped an RBI double and scored a run in the JV loss to Dracut 11-10. Maura Tobin also added a run scored.
