Cake Boss Baked into Winterfest & Bicentennial

LOWELL — The City of Lowell is excited to invite residents from across the Commonwealth as Chef Bartolo “Buddy” Valastro, who among many renown culinary and baking ventures is also of “Cake Boss” fame, visits Lowell to create and share a special birthday cake in recognition of the City’s bicentennial celebrations.

With the historic Blizzard of 2026 behind us, on Saturday, Feb. 28, the City of Lowell will celebrate WinterFest, the city’s annual celebration of winter in the downtown.

This year, just one day before the City turns 200, celebrity chef Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo’s Bakery, will visit WinterFest to present a very special birthday cake for Lowell, and to judge 12 Lowell bakeries’ in a dessert contest.

The dessert contest will be held in a tent on Merrimack Street from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Valastro will unveil Lowell’s birthday cake shortly after 5 p.m., with guests invited to take a piece.

WinterFest will run from noon to 10 p.m., and will include activities such as such as Saint Anne’s Chocolate Festival, a soup competition, an art market, live music, ice carving, fire performances, and a all day scavenger hunt.
