Dracut Has the Spirit of Giving

Inside Dracut Feature

Dracut Economic Development is making it worth your while to shop Dracut for the holidays.

How much worth your while? How about $500 worth?

Take part in the “Make It Dracut for the Holidays” shopping contest for a chance to win $500 in gift cards to the Dracut business(es) of your choice.

The first prize was originally $100 in gift cards, but an anonymous donor, knowing a $500 first prize would be more attractive, donated $400 to beef it up. Second prize is a $50 gift card to a Dracut business or businesses, and there are two third prizes of $25 each in gift cards to Dracut businesses.

The contest is simple: Dracut’s retail businesses and restaurants have been divided into 12 categories. The goal is for contest entrants to take their entry forms to at least one shop in each of the 12 categories. A representative of each store will initial or stamp the entry form in the appropriate row.

No purchase is necessary at the shops, although Dracut Economic Development certainly encourages it.

The contest runs from November 1 to November 30.

Though the intent is to visit a shop in each category throughout November, entry forms will be accepted without the full 12 visited, although if more than one contestant manages to visit all 12 categories, they will be considered first for the prizes through a random lottery.

Entry forms are available at the participating stores, as well as at Dracut Town Hall, the public library and the senior center, and to print out at www.makeitdracut.org/holidays.

You do not have to be a Dracut resident to participate. All are welcome.

The winners will be announced at the Dracut Holiday Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 3, at the Daoulas School Complex on Lakeview Avenue on Saturday, December 3. Contest participants are encouraged to attend the festivities, but it’s not required; winners will be notified by phone.

For more information, including a complete list of participating merchants and an entry form, visit www.makeitdracut.org.
