DRACUT — Chief Richard Patterson, the Dracut Fire Department, Chief Peter Bartlett, the Dracut Police Department, and the Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center, which serves the communities of Tewksbury and Dracut, are celebrating the second full week of April — April 14-20 — as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.
Northern Middlesex RECC Executive Director Kevin Lessard has recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and honored NMRECC’s incredible staff by releasing this official statement.
“I’m extremely proud of the incredibly hard work done each day by the Emergency Communications Dispatchers of the Northern Middlesex RECC,” said Executive Director Lessard. “Our Dispatchers are the engine that drives public safety and without the women and men who have dedicated themselves to this profession, the rest of public safety wouldn’t be able to function. So, this week we join the rest of the nation in formally declaring our thanks to them for their dedication, recognizing the incredibly stressful work they do while protecting the first responders and citizens they work with, they truly are all 9-1-1 Professionals.”
“Dispatchers are truly the first of the first responders. They provide that lifeline to those in need until we arrive on scene,” said Chief Patterson. “The members of the Dracut Fire Department want to thank them for their professionalism and dedication day in and day out.”
“National Public Safety Telecommunicators week allows us to say thank you and really appreciate the men and women behind the mic for their dedicated work,” Chief Bartlett said. “We could not do our jobs without our professional partners at the Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center, so thank you for all you do.”
