LOWELL – The 79th Annual Golden Gloves, presented by Lowell Sun Charities and held every Thursday through March 5 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, held Thursdays from January 8 through March 5, will feature First Responders Night next Thursday, January 22.
One of New England’s longest-standing sports traditions, the Golden Gloves showcases the region’s top amateur boxers as they compete over several weeks for the prestigious championship title.
First Responders Night, presented by Wellpoint, honors the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and emergency personnel who keep our community safe. In addition, Wellpoint will host a private reception for First Responders before the first bout.
The evening also features a special exhibition bout between Lowell Police Officer, Jonathan Rivera and Christopher Loftus from the Massachusetts State Police.
Additionally, several Local Community Champions will be recognized in the ring at 7:30 PM, including an EMT from PrideStar Trinity EMS, police officers from the Lowell Police Department, and firefighters from the Lowell Fire Department.
These honorees exemplify exceptional dedication to public service and positive community impact.
