As part of Greater Lowell Technical High School’s focus on attendance aligned with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), “Power of Presence” initiative, GLTHS is thrilled to announce that their students have surpassed their school wide monthly attendance goal of 95% with an impressive rate of 96.4% for the month of October and 96.88% for September.
The impressive rates showcase the power of the students’ commitment to being present and engaged in their education.
Regular attendance at GLTHS is more than a policy; it’s a reflection of the high expectations students will encounter in the workforce. Students in GLTHS’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs learn not only technical skills but also the importance of punctuality and reliability which are key attributes for success in skilled trades and technical fields. Reaching this attendance milestone reinforces GLTHS’s commitment to developing a future workforce ready to meet the challenges of these careers.
In celebration of this outstanding achievement, GLTHS hosted a DJ’d lunch event for students during each lunch period on Friday, Nov. 8.
“This celebration is a way to acknowledge the power of our students’ presence in school and to thank them for their dedication to maintaining strong attendance,” said Senior Assistant Principal, Mr. Jamie Costa.
“At GLTHS, we are incredibly proud of our students for reaching above and beyond our attendance goal,” said Superintendent Davis. “Their commitment to showing up every day speaks volumes about their dedication to both personal growth and career readiness. We look forward to continuing this momentum and celebrating our students’ achievements along the way!”
Ninth grade student Sophia Morais, of Lowell, said she tries to attend school every day to get the most out of her education.
“I don’t want to miss out on anything important, because I want to get the full experience of exploring all the technical programs,” Morais said.
