Manager Golden’s proposed FY 26 budget features a reduction of approximately four million dollars in city cash contributions to Lowell Public Schools.

Stunning that you never mentioned the out of control spending of the school dept since the pandemic money came in.
Lorraine – Lots of people take the mic at these meetings. I thought the Super. did a far better job at making HIS case than anyone else I’ve seen in recent years. That’s all I was trying to say.
I thought I made that point clear with the last three sentences.

He’s right but it’s a bit of a “no S. Sherlock” speech. This guy talks a good game but can’t return an email. Put your money where your mouth is. That’s advocacy.
The system is flawed, in that school budget can include City expenses for maintenance, the greater the maintenance cost, the less is available for normal school expenses. If the maintenance is done inefficiently, funds are wasted, and school functions lose. On the other hand, poor custodian work leads to higher maintenance costs. Time to break down the silos, and put budget with responsibility.
