On Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3, a joint emergency response drill will be conducted on the Merrimack River. This coordinated training will involve participation from:
U.S. Coast Guard
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP)
Private Sector Partners
Lowell Fire Department
Chelmsford Fire Department
The exercise will take place on the river itself as well as in adjacent areas, including:
Rourke Boat Ramp
Sampas Pavilion
Sheehy Memorial Park
You may notice increased activity and the presence of emergency response vehicles and vessels in these locations. Please be advised that this is a planned training event designed to enhance coordination and preparedness for emergency situations involving the river and surrounding communities.
