LCCPS’ Afro-Latin Percussion Ensemble to Perform at Lowell Folk Festival

Lowell – The 2025 Lowell Folk Festival will be an extra special affair for one local school and its talented musicians.

Lowell Community Charter Public School’s Afro-Latin Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Randal Orie,, has been invited to perform for the first time at the Festival this coming weekend.

Students will perform on Saturday, July 26th at 1:30 p.m. at 45 Merrimack Street (at the corner of Merrimack and Central, in front of the Hildreth Building).

Afro-Latin Percussion is one of many Performing Arts offered as an after school program.

Students are introduced to the musical history and culture of the Caribbean and Latin America, learning a variety of percussion instruments and rhythms, gaining exposure to stories and songs from many countries.  Other offerings include a South African Marimba Ensemble, Step Team, Khmer Dance, Khmer Percussion, Chorus, Piano Club and a String Ensemble.

Everyone at LCCPS invites you to mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend this wonderful community event supporting their Afro-Latin Percussion Ensemble students in their premiere performance at the Lowell Folk Festival
