Inside Stories

Lightening the Lowell Citizen’s Load

For the second consecutive week, the Lowell City Council is creating a challenge for our erstwhile “Insider,” The Lowell Citizen Ryan Gilday; to find his usual, humorous, creative way to recap what shapes up as another uneventful meeting.

Only two council motions graced the October 3rd meeting agenda, and while the number bumps up to seven for the October 10th gathering, that number is but a pittance compared to the heavy lifting that’s carried us through a good chunk of this term.

Perhaps our “Motion Sickness” posting a few weeks ago caused a little second-guessing (doubtful), or maybe the flurry of motion activity led to self-inflicted vertigo, like my son spinning the Tea Cups at a Tasmanian Devil rate during our Disney vacation (only slightly less doubtful).

Of course, there’s no telling yet what the “Executive Session” might bring (we’ll have to see if our spy cams are still working). But one thing we do know is the “vacation” for the Councilors (and the Lowell Citizen) ends October 17th, when the ADU ordinance comes up for a final vote. Not to mention, by then we might finally know the immediate fate of UMass Lowell’s Inn & Conference Center.

So rest up Councilors (and those of you who care what happens Tuesday nights)…rough seas await.
