Lowell Girls Lacrosse Weekly Scoop (May 2, 2025)

It was another action-packed weekend for Lowell Girls Lacrosse!

Despite chilly temps and strong winds, our teams brought energy, grit, and great teamwork to the field. With a mix of big wins and valuable learning moments, the girls continue to grow each game.

Here’s a quick recap as we get ready for a full day of home games this weekend against Waltham!

Grade 1/2:

The 1/2 team battled through chilly rain and strong winds on Sunday but came up just short against a very talented Tewksbury squad. Eva Mojica led the offense with 4 goals, while Avery Gudewich added 2 of her own. Evelyn McManus recorded 2 assists, with Lyla Curran-Benson, Michaela Marshall, and Eva Mojica each adding an assist as well.

Lyla Curran-Benson started in goal, followed by Maggie Regan, who had an outstanding debut in net—making several key saves down the stretch.

Despite the tough result, the girls showed great effort and resilience. We’re looking forward to a strong week of practice as we prepare to bounce back against Waltham.

Grade 3/4 White:

Our Lowell 3/4 White team played Medford on Sunday, winning 23-1. This was a complete team effort with every player making strong contributions throughout the game. Everyone’s intensity, effort and teamwork led to our victory.

Our defense led by Madison O’Hearn (2 goals), Kendra Dexter (1 goal/1assist) and Maya Underwood (1 goal/1 assist/3 saves in net) and Eva Mojica (1assist/2 saves in net) were aggressive and committed to making crucial stops.

Our midfielders were led by Addison Feeney (5 goals/5 assists), Breton Tanguay (6 goals/1 assist), and Maggie Branco (2 goals/3 assists) pushed the tempo throughout the game with their excellent controlled transition passing as well as hustling to every ground ball.

Our attack players were led by Bella Cardaci (2 goals/3 assists), Delaney Donovan (1 goal/1 assist), Emma Smulligan (1 goal), Penny Hubert (1 goal), and Bridget Quirbach (1 goal) displayed well timed cutting, controlled passing and excellent communication with each other. They are growing as a team every game, looking forward to our next game.

Grade 3/4 Red:

On another chilly and windy Sunday, LGL 3/4 Red brought the heat against Tewksbury, securing an 18-7 win.

A strong middie line and draw controls led the attack, with outstanding performance from Vivian Shanley (8 goals), Ellie Branco (3 goals), Addy Dolan (3 goals) and Addison Feeney (3 goals).

Ellie Jaracz also found the back of the net, grabbing a goal for her team, while Audrey Hunt and Emmagrace Glavine used their speed to move the ball down the field.

Coordinated defense held Tewksbury back, with Gisele Smith, Keira Pollard and Kenzie Keo playing strong crease coverage. As goalie, Vivian Rosenberry blocked several attempts to hit the net.

Grade 5/6:

This week, our 5/6 girls put up a strong fight against a tough Tewksbury team. It was a close, hard-fought game, with Tewksbury ultimately coming out on top.

Key scorers for Lowell were midfielders Maeve McKiernan (3 goals), Maggie Wilson (1 goal), and Cate Richardson (1 goal), while attack players Abby Smulligan and Nora Kelly each added a goal of their own.

Our defense stayed busy and focused, with Rosalinda Goguen, Nora Graham, Niamh Murphy, Talia Cardia, Erin McGovern, and Nora Finn worked hard to stay on their mark and took advantage of using the sideline to run the ball and make solid passes.

Renee Wagner played middie for the first time this season and had a strong performance running the field.

On attack, Isabella Bedard boxed out for ground balls, and Maggie Richardson had several impressive catches to help move the ball toward the net.

This week, the girls are back at it, working on communication and calling for backup. Let’s get loud, Lowell!

Isabella Sorby is on the move

Grade 7/8:

In the game against Tewksbury on Sunday, 4/27, there was a lot of great action from the Lowell 7/8 team.

Isabella Sorbi scored a goal, along with Skylar Nwaise, Lilly Bordeleau, and Lily Wilkey. Peyton Kum caught fast-paced passes down the field for transitions. Additionally, defense played a great game by blocking multiple shots and passes to get turnovers. Sophia Pinheiro and Jolene Heslin were standouts here.
