Lowell Girls Lacrosse Weekly Scoop (May 9, 2025)

It was a winning weekend for Lowell Girls Lacrosse, as all five teams earned impressive victories over Waltham. With the sun finally out and energy running high, players across every age group showcased their skills, teamwork, and determination.

As we head into Mother’s Day weekend, we also want to recognize and celebrate all of our amazing LGL moms for their support, dedication, and sideline spirit.

Here’s a breakdown of each team’s standout moments and what’s next on the schedule.

Grade 1/2:

The 1/2 team bounced back in a big way this weekend, securing a 15–8 win over Waltham behind a high-powered offensive performance. Six different players found the back of the net, with several others getting quality shots on goal in a true team effort.

Midfielder Eva Mojica led the way with an impressive 7 goals and 2 assists. Michaela Marshall added 2 goals and a team-high 5 assists, while also winning multiple draw controls to help maintain possession. Kinsley Witts added to the scoring with a goal and an assist, while Etta Brunini and Ruari Pollard each recorded two assists. Sophia Bedard, Charlotte Patterson, and Evelyn McManus also added an assist apiece to support the offense.

On attack, Avery Gudewich and Kerryn Welch were aggressive and worked hard to get open. Gudewich scored 3 goals, Welch scored 1, and Lyla Curran-Benson added another goal to round out the scoring.

In net, Evelyn McManus started the game and made several nice saves, while Lyla Curran-Benson stepped in for the second half and also turned away multiple shots to help secure the win.

The team is looking forward to their final home game of the season this weekend against Methuen!

Grade 3/4 White:

3/4 White beat Waltham 17–10 in an intense, fast-paced matchup. It was a true team effort, with every player contributing in meaningful ways to the win.

Our defense played an outstanding game, led by Madison O’Hearn, Maya Underwood, and Vivian Brown (2 goals, 1 assist).

Our midfielders worked hard throughout offensive and defensive transitions, with standout performances from Addison Feeney (6 goals, 2 assists), Maggie Branco (2 goals, 2 assists), and Brooklyn Esteves (1 goal, 1 assist).

On attack, Bella Cardaci (4 goals, 2 assists), Breton Tanguay (2 goals, 1 assist), and Kendra Dexter (1 assist) showed great patience, keeping the field balanced and making smart decisions throughout our offensive sets.

Overall, it was a great team win!

Grade 3/4 Red:

The Lowell Girls Lacrosse team delivered an exciting performance on their home turf at Carvalho Field, defeating Waltham 15-8 in a well-fought match on Sunday.

Leading the charge for Lowell was Ellie Jaracz, who dominated the scoreboard with six goals and contributed a couple of key steals on defense. Ellie Branco followed closely with four goals, showcasing excellent shooting efficiency. Vivian Shanley added a strong three-goal performance to round out the high-powered offense.

Midfielders Emmagrace Glavine and Audrey Hunt anchored the middle of the field with steady play, with Glavine also tallying a goal. Vivian Rosenberry found the net as well, contributing to the team’s balanced attack. Katy Florence and Emily Kilbride provided solid support from the attack position, helping to keep the pressure on Waltham’s defense throughout the game.

On the defensive end, goalie Keira Pollard stood tall in net, making several critical saves and playing a pivotal role in the victory. Defenders Kenzie Keo, Avery Hungler, Gisele Smith, and Alice Regan turned in strong performances, disrupting Waltham’s offense and protecting their lead with determined play.

With the win, Lowell looks ahead to their next matchup on Sunday against Chelmsford. Ready for another showdown, 3/4 Red is proving to be a force this season.

Grade 5/6:

The 5/6 team had a fantastic game against Waltham. With the sun finally shining, the girls were more than ready to play and ultimately earned a 12–5 win!

Maggie Wilson is on the move!

Before the opening draw, 6th grader Maggie Wilson fired up the team with a pep talk: “They might be taller than us, but we are stronger, faster, and have better stick skills.” Her words set the tone, and the team’s intensity showed from the start.

Lowell’s scoring was spread out across the lineup, led by Maeve McKiernan, Lilah Hall, Maeve Marshall, Sam Heslin, and Maggie Richardson, who each scored 2 goals, followed by Nora Kelly and Maggie Wilson with 1 goal apiece.

The defense was outstanding, with Abby Smulligan, Niamh Murphy, and Rosalinda Goguen applying heavy pressure on their marks and making it tough for Waltham to find the back of the net.

In goal, Erin McGovern made several impressive saves and showed strong leadership with clear communication and sharp outlet passes that helped transition the ball quickly upfield.

Nora Graham, Keira Peters, and Mairin Monaghan rotated between middie and defense, contributing smart passes, solid hustle, and multiple interceptions.

We are excited for the next game vs Methuen at Carvahlo Field.

Grade 7/8:

The LGL U14 team earned a solid win over Waltham on 5/4, with every player contributing to the team’s success. Jolene Heslin was a standout in the midfield, winning multiple draws and creating fast break opportunities.

On attack, Angelina Poirier and Alexa Wisdom each scored multiple goals, while Reese McKiernan added to the scoring with multiple goals and creating key turnovers to regain possession. Vicki Espinosa also made a strong impact, supporting both the midfield and attack.

On defense, Amalie Oworu helped shut down Waltham’s offense by blocking several shot attempts. It was a full-team effort and a great game all around!
