The City of Lowell received some positive publicity recently from “Livability,” a site that explores what makes small-to-mid size cities great places to live.
The Mill City ranked 8th on Livability’s Top-25 list, the highest ranked Massachusetts city, coming in ahead of Worcester (#11) and Fall River (#13).
Lowell also ranked ahead their New Hampshire Merrimack River neighbors, Nashua (#10) and Manchester (#14).
“Today, the city of Lowell is one of the best places to live in the Northeast because it is able to weave its industrial history into modern amenities,” according to the rankings. “Adding to the rich culture of Lowell are two higher education institutions — UMass Lowell and Middlesex Community College, which has part of its campus in Lowell.”
The National Park and the various museums populating our favorite city are also cited as reasons for the lofty standing.
Clifton, New Jersey tops the list, with a pair or Rhode Island locales, Warwich and Cranston, rounding out the Top-3.
