Lowell – The City of Lowell, in partnership with Lowell’s Bicentennial Committee and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell, earlier today announced the return of MonsterBash & Fall Fest, set to take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 12:00-10:00PM.
In honor of Lowell’s 200th, the Lowell Bicentennial Committee is bringing added fun – including Lowell’s first-ever drone show, even more carnival rides, musical performances, and an expanded festival. Lowellians of all ages are encouraged to grab a costume and join us for the perfect autumnal day in the downtown.
From 12:00PM to 3:00PM, trick-or-treat through Downtown Lowell at 40-plus local businesses and organizations. From Lowell City Hall to the Hive Public Market, follow the orange pumpkin on the sidewalk to find participating locations. A map will be available online at likelowell.com/monsterbash. Flyers will be available for download in Khmer, Portuguese, and Spanish languages.
The Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell will transform Lowell City Hall into a not-too-spooky Haunted House, appropriate for all ages. Please note the line for the Haunted House will close promptly at 2:45PM. A fan-favorite, the Neighborhood Haunt at JFK Plaza will offer candy and activities in collaboration with local non-profits and community partners- including the Lowell Spinners.
Stroll through Downtown Lowell, taking in the sights of carnival rides, games, and live performances. At 2:00PM, Fearless: the Taylor Swift Experience will take the stage on Merrimack Street with upbeat hits for all. The live music doesn’t stop there – starting at 4PM with free admission to the public in the Rockland Trust Lot, New England favorite Jim Plunkett and Boston’s finest funk band, Booty Vortex will keep you dancing and Top Shelf Concessions will be on-hand with beer and wine for the adults.
The day of festivities will end with Lowell’s first-ever drone show at 6:30PM, as synchronized drones take to the sky in detailed formation to depict Lowell iconography, celebrating 200 years of innovation, momentum, and opportunity. Gather your friends and family to witness a piece of our City’s history light up the night sky in the Rockland Trust lot.
In support of making the fun accessible to all Lowellians, family quiet spaces will be available to the public during the event. These locations are open to neurodivergent individuals, nursing parents, or those who may need a break. Pollard Memorial Library, located next door to Lowell City Hall at 401 Merrimack Street, will serve as a quiet space from 12:00PM-3:00PM. In addition, the Health Department, located at 107 Merrimack Street, will be open from 1:00PM-5:00PM. More information regarding these spaces will be available online.
“MonsterBash and Fall Fest wouldn’t be possible without the partnership of the Lowell Bicentennial Committee, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell, and the generous sponsors who supported this event,” said City Manager Thomas A. Golden Jr. in expressing his excitement. “We look forward to welcoming the Merrimack Valley to Downtown Lowell to help us close out our Bicentennial year. From the non-profits that lift us up, to the businesses that create opportunity, to our community like no other – each part of this event pays tribute to what makes us Lowell. Bring your families, friends, and enjoy a fall day in our City.”
“Every Bicentennial event that we have held through the generosity of our sponsors has been free for all who attend and we are going to continue that with MonsterBash & Fall Fest,” added the members of the Lowell Bicentennial Committee. “In fact, the first 100 people who attend the Jim Plunkett kick off at 4PM in the Rockland Trust lot tent, will receive a commemorative Lowell 200 winter hat. So don’t be late and bring your voice. We look forward to packing the tent for a great Lowell sing-along.”
“MonsterBash & Fall Fest is the perfect opportunity to enjoy Downtown Lowell’s offerings,” remarked Mayor Erik Gitschier. “We’re grateful to our partners in the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell for their continued collaboration, and to the Lowell Bicentennial Committee for their hard work and dedication to making 2026 a memorable year.”
The City of Lowell continues to prioritize public safety and emergency preparedness. The City is actively working within emergency management to decrease the risk of elopement or wandering children, enhancing protections for our most vulnerable residents.
