LPO Orchestrates Successful Show

Lowell – The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) recently orchestrated a magnificent celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in a splendid event titled “¡Bailar con la Orquesta!”  on Saturday, October 14.  The concert was held at the beautiful Fusion, with Pastor Chip Gonsalves in the audience.

The newly appointed Music Director of the LPO, Marshunda Smith, was introduced to and welcomed by the audience.

Guest Conductor Neal Hampton, who hosted last year’s Masquerade, was on the podium. François and Dawn from Salsa-In Lowell showed off their captivating cha-cha moves, adding a vibrant dimension to the festivities.

Diego Leonardo, the Executive Director of the Latinx Community Center for Empowerment, took command as Special Guest Conductor and led the LPO through a performance of “Amparito Roca.”

The audience was treated to a spread of food from Gary’s Tipico, a restaurant known for its Caribbean and Hispanic cuisine located on Andover Street. The Camelia Latin Jazz Trio added to the ambiance that had everyone on their feet.

Attendees seized the opportunity to showcase their moves, turning the celebration into a lively dance party. The irresistible rhythm of Latin music had people up on their feet.

Mayor Chau and his wife Somong were in the audience along with Kevin Coughlin, President of Lowell Sun Charities, representatives from Enterprise Bank and State Representative Vanna Howard.

However, the real stars of the evening were the talented and dedicated musicians of the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra. Their performances were exceptional, and their musical talent was the foundation of this unforgettable night.

In the end, the ¡Bailar con la Orquesta! celebration truly embodied the spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month – a time to honor and embrace the rich culture, music, and traditions of the Hispanic community. The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, in collaboration with esteemed guests and local supporters, successfully delivered a remarkable event that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
