Lowell — Mail-in ballots are now available for the September 1 State Primary.
Lowell voters may request a ballot by returning the application they received from the Secretary of the Commonwealth or by applying online at www.mailmyballotma.com.
Voters with pending applications can expect ballots to begin arriving in mailboxes this week and may track the status of their ballot at www.trackmyballotma.com.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, August 25, at 5:00PM.
In-person Early Voting will be offered on the second floor of the Lowell Senior Center from 9:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturday, August 22, through Friday, August 28, during the following hours:
- Saturday, August 22: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
- Sunday, August 23: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
- Monday, August 24: 8:00AM – 5:00PM
- Tuesday, August 25: 8:00AM – 8:00PM
- Wednesday, August 26: 8:00AM – 5:00PM
- Thursday, August 27: 8:00AM – 5:00PM
- Friday, August 28: 8:00AM – 12:00PM
On Primary Day, Tuesday, September 1, Lowell voters may cast their ballots in person at their regular polling locations from 7:00AM until 8:00PM.
Voters may also notice that this year’s Primary ballots look slightly different.
Beginning with the September 1, 2026, State Primaries, the Secretary of the Commonwealth has updated ballot colors so that Democratic ballots will be printed in blue and Republican ballots in pink or red.
For decades, Massachusetts used red or pink for Democratic ballots and blue for Republican ballots. This update reflects common public associations of blue with the Democratic Party and red with the Republican Party, and is intended to reduce confusion for voters.
Winners of the Democratic and Republican Primaries will advance to the November Election ballot, where they will appear alongside any non-party candidates.
