Lowell Mayor Sokhary Chau carried on the tradition of previous Mayors Ed Kennedy, Bill Samaras and John Leahy by helping support and raise money for Community Teamwork’s Youth Services organization.
The event took place last Thursday, November 10th and brough more than 150 attendees to the 5th floor of Mill No. 5 on Jackson Street. They enjoyed enjoying food, drinks and dancing as well as playing creative games to learn about all of the services Youth Services provides.
This worthy cause has seen a sharp increase in demand, as the number of homeless and at-risk youth in the Greater Lowell area has grown significantly in the four years since its formation. Youth Services currently serves over 700 individuals, up from 100.
Mayor Chau was joined by a number of his City Council colleagues and other elected officials in attending the festivities and supporting the effort. The organization hopes to raise $30,000 as a result of the evening.
