SNOW is expected to start in the Lowell area around 8-9 PM Saturday night. Overspreads the area as we head into the overnight hours. Heaviest will be overnight into mid morning Sunday. As the storm pulls away, colder air will be pulled back into the storm resulting in a flash freeze. Total accumulations expected for the Merrimack Valley are 6 to 12 inches locally, with more possible in higher terrain. Lesser amounts towards the coastline where mixing is likely due to an easterly wind.
