GROTON – Joir Francisco, age 84, a resident of Groton and former resident of Brazil died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer.  He was the beloved husband of Martinha F. (Franhani) Francisco, with whom he would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on June 30th.

He was born in Lauro Muller, SC, Brazil on April 6, 1939, and was a son of the late Olavo and Virginia (Urbano) Francisco.

Prior to his retirement, Joir worked for many years as a blacksmith.

His friends and family will remember him as a very loving father and grandfather and an extremely caring man.

In his free time Joir enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Joir Anderson Francisco of Brazil; his daughter and son-in-law, Keise and Almir Ferreira of Groton; nine grandchildren, Gabriel Gregorio, Matheus Ferreira, Kaylee Ferreira, Tuane Francisco, Mateus Francisco, Luis Felipe, Maria Victoria Francisco, Maria Luiza Francisco and Luis Gustavo Francisco; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joir’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Monday, May 15th from 10:00am until 12:00pm followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
