Lorraine M. (St. Hilaire) Morency, 88, a resident of Lowell, MA, died on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica. She was the beloved wife of the late Leon Morency, until his passing in 2020.
Born in Lowell, MA on January 3, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Blanche (St. Louis) and Oscar St. Hilaire. Lorraine was raised and educated in Lowell but took great pride in her Canadian heritage.
She worked as a secretary for the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital until her retirement in 1983.
Lorraine was an avid sailor, who truly loved the time she had spent on the water with Leon. In their years together, she enjoyed splitting their time between Florida and Massachusetts as well as road trips throughout the U.S. and motorcycling in Canada. She cherished painting and her cat, Charlie.
She was a parishioner of St. Francis Church in Dracut. Lorraine was deeply rooted in her faith and prayed on a daily basis and like her late husband Leon, was a friend of Bill W and a power example to many.
Lorraine is survived and will be deeply missed by her three stepsons, David Morency and his wife Lisa of Dracut, Duane Morency of Lowell and his partner Laurel Anderson of Sarasota, FL and Daniel Morency and his wife Lisa of Dracut; her grandchildren, Erica, Kayla, Nicholas, Derek, Eddie, Vanessa, Sara and Olivia; her great-grandchildren, Adomus and Aubrey; her nephew, Bennett Sawyer and his wife Barbara of North Waterboro, ME; her two great-nephews, Bennett and Brian Sawyer; her great-niece, Beth McKee and her great-great-nephew, Connor McKee.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Bertha Sawyer and Grace Desrosiers; her niece, Susan Desrosiers and her nephew, Gerald Desrosiers.
Relatives and friends are invited to Lorraine’s Memorial Visitation on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 6 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, May 12th at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will be held privately.
