Pump Station to Honor Maintenance Superintendent

Lowell — Richard P. Brassard was the Superintendent of Maintenance for the City of Lowell’s Water Utility when he retired in January 2008 after an incredible career spanning four decades (1968-2008). He brought innovative skills and a strong work ethic to the job and was known as a mentor for all that worked under him.  Friday October 27th at 10am, the City will honor him by dedicating the Stackpole Street Pump Station in his name.

“It is always a special moment whenever the City has an opportunity to highlight the important work from a long-term employee like Richard P. Brassard,” says City Manager Thomas A. Golden, Jr. “As a former employee, myself, having worked at the Water Utility, I can tell you that Dick Brassard was a pleasure to work with and a true gentleman. He exemplifies professionalism, dedication, and innovation. The City is proud to honor his 40-year career with the dedication of this pump station.”

Current Maintenance Superintendent, Robert Farley, has this to say, “If there was ever some part needed that was unavailable, or didn’t quite fit for what was needed, Dick would fabricate the parts on his own. He was an extremely talented man.”

The Stackpole Street Pump Station is located at the corner of Nesmith Street/Hunts Falls Bridge and Stackpole Street. Family and friends will be in attendance to celebrate this wonderful event. The public is also welcome to attend.

Rich, this is awesome and well deserved! I remember that Christmas Eve, long ago, that you couldn’t make it to the family celebration because something had broken down at the water works. You worked through most of the night to repair it, and saved Christmas for a lot of people that year! Although I can’t make it up there, I’ll be there in spirit!! Mom and dad would be so proud, as I am.
    Congrats Rich! Love, Denise
