InsideLowell has learned that Salah Khelfaoui and the City have settled the lawsuit the former Lowell Public Schools Superintendent filed in September of 2019.
The suit alleged Employment Discrimination on the part of the School Committee in dismissing the Superintendent in November of 2018. Below is the dismissal, submitted this past Monday December 5th.
Khelfaoui issued a statement to InsideLowell which reads:
“I think at this stage of my life and given that most of the new players in Lowell have never wished me any harm and a Lowell community that I like and respect and enjoyed serving very much, yes I am happy with the settlement. It was the right decision for the Lowell Public Schools, the Lowell community, my family and myself.”
Attempts to contact Lowell City Manger Tom Golden and other city officials for comment were not successful at this time.
However, reading between the lines of Dr. Khelfaoui’s statement, it is our “Inside View” that the settlement was for a significant amount below the more than $400,000 he was owed on his contract, plus damages and other benefits his attorney had requested.
