Lowell – The MassHire Greater Lowell Connecting Activities team and the Greater Lowell Technical High School (GLTHS) hosted a job fair at the tech school’s campus in Tyngsboro on November 7, 2023.
The event provided 500 students to explore diverse career paths, establish connections with local businesses and unions to set the course for their future. Students engaged with over 30 local businesses and unions spanning various industries in Greater Lowell.
Kevin E. Coughlin, Executive Director of the MassHire Greater Lowell Workforce, said, “This was a great opportunity for GLTHS students to learn valuable workplace knowledge. We want to give each student the tools for workplace success!”
Job fairs held at local high schools often mark the initial exposure for students to a professional setting, laying the foundation for their future successes.
“Students interacted with a wide variety of businesses and made connections,” stated Cathy Sturtevant, Supervisor of Connecting Activities staff. “They gained resources and knowledge crucial to entering the workforce.”
“We appreciate our partnership with MassHire Greater Lowell and are grateful to them for working with Brian Jones, our Cooperative Education and Part-Time Job Coordinator, organizing this job fair for our students,” said Jill Davis, Superintendent of GLTHS and Board member of MassHire Greater Lowell. “We work hard to prepare students with the necessary skills to acquire employment. Job fairs like this are often their first exposure to direct interactions with local businesses. This allows our students to explore different employment opportunities that match with their skill set.”
