Tewksbury PD Responds to Fatal Pedestrian-Bus Crash

TEWKSBURY — Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department responded Monday to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and bus.

On Monday, Feb. 24, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Tewksbury Police Department was dispatched to the area of Stadium Plaza, on Main Street, for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived to discover that a pedestrian was struck by a Lowell Regional Transit Authority bus that was on a planned route in the plaza’s parking lot. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with an active and ongoing investigation.

Additional inquiries should be directed to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
