LOWELL– Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) hosted her annual Service Academy Nomination Ceremony this week, honoring the young men and women from across the Third District she nominated to attend the nation’s premier military service academies.
The ceremony brought together nominees, their families, and members of Trahan’s Service Academy Board to mark this milestone moment in each nominee’s journey toward a life of service to the country.
Among the nominees are a pair of Chelmsford High School students, Athvika Ravi Marna and Ethan Lee, while Dracut High’s Scott Johnston was nominated for both the Naval and Air Force Academies.
“Nominating young men and women to our nation’s service academies is one of the greatest privileges of this job, and this year’s class is extraordinary,” said Congresswoman Trahan. “Each of these nominees has demonstrated the kind of character, discipline, and commitment to something larger than themselves that defines the very best of our country. I am so proud of them, and I’m deeply grateful to our Service Academy Board members, whose time, expertise, and dedication make this process everything it should be.”
Trahan nominated students from across the Third District to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Nominees were interviewed and evaluated by volunteer members of Trahan’s Service Academy Board, a distinguished group of academy graduates, veterans, and community leaders who give generously of their time to help identify the next generation of military officers from the Third District.
