Trahan Elected to Democratic Leadership

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) was elected by her colleagues to serve in House Democratic Leadership as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC).

“I’m honored and humbled by the trust my colleagues have placed in me to help lead the House Democratic Caucus over the next year. I ran for this position because I want to do everything in my power to ensure that Democrats are successful in defeating MAGA Republican extremism, retaking the House, and returning the American people to the center of everything we do in this chamber,” Congresswoman Trahan said. “We have a remarkable story to tell between now and next November, and we have a caucus full of talented messengers already working to make sure hardworking families across the nation hear it. I look forward to working with Chairman Neguse and Co-Chairs Escobar and Underwood, as well as Leader Jeffries and the entire Democratic Leadership team, to support our members as we continue our march to the majority.”

“I’d also like to commend Congressman Crow for running a strong campaign. Jason brings such important experiences and perspective to our caucus, and we’re better because of him. I’m fortunate to call him a friend and a classmate, and I plan to lean on his expertise, which he is always so generous in sharing, as I dive into this new role,” Congresswoman Trahan continued.

The DPCC is the messaging arm of House Democratic Leadership. Led by Chairman Joe Neguse (CO-02) and Co-Chairs Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Lauren Underwood (IL-14), the DPCC is focused on developing a strong message that can be used by House Democrats to outline their priorities and draw contrasts with House Republicans’ agenda.

In addition to her election to DPCC Co-Chair, Trahan currently serves as a member of House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries’s Regional Leadership Council, a Senior Whip on House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark’s whip team, and a member of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
