LOWELL, MA – Today, Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) announced $20,747,873 in federal funding for local community projects across the Third District is set to pass the House and Senate and be signed into law by President Joe Biden this week.

The projects were part of the discussion when Congresswoman Trahan joined Teddy Panos on the InsideView Podcast earlier this week.

“I go to work every day looking for ways to deliver federal resources for local economic development and infrastructure projects that will improve the lives of folks across the Third District,” said Congresswoman Trahan. “These investments set to become law later this week will undoubtedly make our district a better place to call home, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work our partners and my team have done to get them across the finish line. I look forward to collaborating with community leaders to get these funds released as soon as possible so we can start putting them to work here at home.”

Critical projects in communities across our district are just a federal investment away from being completed and improving the city or town for years to come. I’m proud to secure over $20 million in federal funding to get many of those projects from Haverhill to Lowell to Gardner done.

Earlier this year, Trahan submitted proposals to fund 15 projects across the Third District that will positively impact individual communities and strengthen the region as a whole. The projects set to receive funding following passage this week include:

• Community Teamwork, Inc.: $3,000,000 to support CTI’s efforts to provide emergency housing for Lowell families through the Commonwealth’s Emergency Assistance Family Shelter Program.
• Cawley Stadium: $3,000,000 to assist with the renovation of the stadium grandstands and locker rooms, which is Phase II in the rehabilitation of the 68-acre Martin Athletic Complex.
• Community Health Connections: $2,500,000 to support the establishment of a dedicated service line for Children’s Mental Health, including outpatient individual, family, and group therapy services, psychiatry, in-school therapy, therapeutic case management, peer mentoring, and parenting classes.
• Boys & Girls Clubs, District-wide: $2,200,000 to support important workforce development projects at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lowell, Haverhill, MetroWest, and Gardner.
• Lawrence CommunityWorks, Inc.: $2,116,000 to complete the transformational redevelopment of Lawrence’s East Island neighborhood from neglected post-industrial wasteland to vibrant mixed-use community.
• Fitchburg Theater Block: $2,000,000 to support the Fitchburg Theater Block development project, including constructing a performing arts theater that will be used by Fitchburg State University’s performing arts students and the public.
• Town of Dracut: $1,500,000 to support the Town of Dracut’s plan to cap its landfill, which will enable the site to be reutilized.
• Lawrence General Hospital: $1,000,000 replace the hospital’s imaging equipment in its Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory to better diagnose and treat heart conditions such as clogged arteries and irregular heartbeats.
• Town of Acton: $750,000 to restore the historic Asa Parlin House to provide event space to facilitate meetings, library programing, and culture events, to maintain the historic integrity and visual impact from Woodbury Lane, and to restore the appearance of the municipal complex that also houses the Town Hall and Memorial Library.
• City of Haverhill: $700,000 to improve and restore portions of the Winnekenni Park Recreation Area, including trail renovation and increasing access to green space.
• Center for Hope and Healing, Inc.: $505,813 to support the Lowell Ending Trafficking of Youth (LET YOUTH) project that provides comprehensive services to address the needs for safety, security, and healing to all minor survivors of human trafficking in the Greater Lowell area.
• Town of Winchendon: $494,000 to support efforts to replace approximately 900 feet of century-old sewers and expand water access for town residents.
• Clinton Hospital, Leominster Campus: $450,000 to acquire and install a 3D Mammography System (digital breast tomosynthesis) to increase cancer screening rates for over 12,000 patients.
• Minute Man Arc for Human Services: $331,110 to support “Bridge to Bright Futures,” a new project to address isolation, lack of congregate day services, and caregiver burden for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• GAAMHA, Inc.: $200,000 to support a new program that offers individuals in North Central Massachusetts struggling from substance use disorder and mental health challenges with alternative approaches to recovery.

The projects were included in the year-end government funding package set to pass the House and Senate and be signed into law by the President later this week.
