Two More Lowell Women Honored for “Excellence”

The celebration of Black Excellence on the Hill held yesterday at the State House included two more Lowell residents nominated by the local delegation; Olu Ibrahim and Renay Wolterding.

Ibrahim, nominated by Senator Ed Kennedy, is the Founder and CEO of Kids in Tech. She has made it her mission to ensure that any child, regardless of socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to discover and learn about technology. Since its founding in 2016, Kids in Tech has helped young people in Massachusetts explore technology through its After School Tech Club.

Ibrahim, nominated by Representative Vanna Howard, opened Mill City BBQ & Brew in Lowell eight years ago. She’s known for treating everyone like family and loves to give hugs to every customer who walks in the door. Ibrahim also hosts Black History Month and other cultural events at her business.

Congratulations to Ibrahim, Wolterding and all who were honored at yesterday’s ceremony, including Mona Tyree, who was profiled yesterday.
