LOWELL – UMass Lowell recognized 10 distinguished graduates with 2026 University Alumni Awards last week, honoring their outstanding contributions to the university, the community and their respective professions.
Held at UMass Lowell’s University Crossing student center (soon to be the Martin T. Meehan Student Center), the April 16 ceremony capped the annual Days of Giving campaign, which engaged 3,841donors and raised $941,163 to support career-connected experiences, academic programs, student organizations and services that help ensure student success.
For the second time in three years, The Wall Street Journal has recognized UMass Lowell as the top public university in Massachusetts for its learning environment and commitment to student success.
“These outstanding alumni represent the best of what UMass Lowell offers – pioneering research, meaningful career experiences and a deeply held sense of community. We salute their achievements and are grateful for their engagement with students and support for the university,” said UMass Lowell Chancellor Julie Chen.
This year, seven alumni award winners are honorees of the UMass Lowell school or college they attended. Two are outstanding young alumni who have distinguished themselves as entrepreneurs, and another is a dedicated volunteer. The award recipients are:
- William Boag ’16, of Cambridge, Mass., an honoree of the university’s Honors College, who earned a UMass Lowell computer science degree and is now the senior health care data lead for MassHealth, where he works on special projects and AI innovation.

Graduates of the Last Decade honors were presented to:

“Our alumni are hardworking, trailblazing and generous, reaching the highest levels – from Main Street to Wall Street, from classrooms to boardrooms, and from the halls of Congress to the White House. Through the stories shared by our honorees at this annual event, the UMass Lowell Alumni Awards capture the pride and impact of this community,” said Scott Conway ’12, UMass Lowell executive director of Alumni Relations.
