Verizon Disconnects from Cross Point

InsideLowell has learned the Verizon, the second largest communications company in the world, has vacated Cross Point Towers in Lowell.

Sources informed us that a moving company was “clearing out all office equipment” and that nothing new was being brought in to replace it. When contacted for more information, a source from IBEW Local 2321 confirmed the information, adding; “As of May 19th the company notified the Union that they were vacating all employees from Crosspoint.”

“The property has been used primarily as a call center in the past,” a Verizon spokesperson tells us. “However, during the pandemic we shifted our call center employees to permanent work from home which means we no longer need the space.”

According to a representative from Anchor Line Partners, which owns the property, Verizon first moved into Cross Point Towers in 1995.

At one point, the Call Center employed over 1,000 people. Operations were already consolidated in 2020, bringing that number down to about 500.
