Lowell – The Lowell Hispanic & Latinx Festival 2026, scheduled for Saturday September 26, has been postponed due to the severe weather expected this weekend.

“Given the prediction of high winds and significant rainfall on Saturday, we are postponing the 2026 Lowell Hispanic & Latinx Festival,” said Diego Leonardo, Executive Director of the Latinx Community Center for Empowerment (LCCE).

“We are working with the Department of Conservation and Recreation to identify a date in Spring 2027 at the Lowell Heritage State Park to celebrate the dynamic Hispanic and Latinx community in Massachusetts.  Our goal is to have another great lineup of local artisans, musical acts, authentic food creators, and families in this wonderful park along the Merrimack River.”

Hispanic Heritage Month, however, is not on hold. To keep the celebration going, LCCE will host Compartamos Cultura, a smaller-scale community event this fall, offering a taste of Latin America without leaving the state — an evening of music, food, and culture bridging the community through to the spring festival.

“We didn’t want the postponement of the big festival to mean the end of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration,” continued Leonardo. “So we’re bringing the community together for Compartamos Cultura — a chance to experience the flavors, music, and spirit of Latin America right here, and to carry that energy all the way into the spring.”

Details on Compartamos Cultura, including date and location, will be announced in the coming days.

Plans for the Lowell Hispanic & Latinx Festival 2027 will be announced early in the new year.
