Lowell – South Coast Improvement Company (SCIC)has been hired by the City of Lowell to launch construction of a new Training Center at Cawley Stadium, marking a significant investment in the city’s athletic, educational, and community infrastructure. SCIC is a contractor with extensive experience in education-sector construction.
The approximately 6,000-square-foot facility is designed to support student-athletes while also serving broader community needs. Program elements include a modern weight room, two locker rooms, coach and trainer offices, a community room, and public restrooms. Additional spaces are planned for film review, team meetings, and quiet study, allowing the building to function as both a training facility and an academic support environment.
Located within the active Cawley Stadium complex, the project requires careful planning and coordination to maintain safety and site operations during construction.
South Coast Improvement Company is managing the ground-up build using an approach commonly applied to complex renovation projects in occupied or high-use environments, with a focus on sequencing, durability, and long-term performance.
City officials have described the Training Center as a strategic investment in Lowell’s students, athletic programs, and community resources.
By consolidating training, preparation, and support spaces into a single facility, the project reflects a growing trend among municipalities to develop integrated athletic infrastructure that supports both physical performance and academic success.
Once complete, the Training Center is expected to strengthen daily operations for school athletic programs while reinforcing Cawley Stadium’s role as a long-term civic asset.
The project underscores the City of Lowell’s continued focus on infrastructure investments that enhance student outcomes, expand community access, and deliver durable public facilities designed to serve evolving needs over time.
SCIC is a leader in occupied renovation and new construction for senior living, healthcare, affordable housing, and educational facilities nationwide.

One response to “New Cawley Stadium Training Center Construction Firm Hired”
With this facility being built and the amount of money being spent on it I hope provisions have been made so that it’s general upkeep on a very regular basis is maintained. If this isn’t done then it will fall apart very quickly. We absolutely must have a person all persons however many it takes to maintain the facilities so that they are clean not in disrepair and maintained throughout the year so that has to be placed into the city budget. Nice things cost money in order to keep them being nice so I hope our city fathers take that into consideration going forward.
